Milford Sound, a 16 kilometre long fiord
is Fiordland’s best-known attraction. Its most famous
landmark is Mitre Peak rising 1,692 metres straight from the
deep fiord. The grandeur of Milford Sound can be best appreciated
by boat. Towering waterfalls, which tumble hundreds of metres
from the virgin forest overhead, fur seals, dolphins and the
occasional Fiordland, crested penguin can be seen along the
way. |
